This position collaborates on a project team to develop and support
information technology solutions for a major energy trading and
marketing firm utilizing a trading platform with custom-built trade
management applications supplemented by several commercial software
products. Main functions include analyzing and documenting business
requirements, performing system testing and user training, full
system and business process implementation and ongoing support to
all applications.
Required Skills
Conducts meetings with Information Technology (IT) personnel, end
users and management to identify requirements and evaluate solutions
to business problems/bottlenecks; identifies alternate methods to
increase efficiencies and improve controls; analyzes and documents
information system requirements and the corresponding impact on
business processes; collaborates with IT development personnel to
review options; prepares proposals for new/upgraded systems; translates
concepts and user impact
Contributes to the efficient progress of projects, updating management
as necessary; participates in the review of the development life
cycle and monitors timeline relating to project tasks and deliverables;
notifies management and user group of any changes in project schedule
and or scope
Contributes to the testing, documentation, deployment and initial
monitoring of information system and business process solutions;
may contribute to end-user training on those systems/solutions
Contributes to small or medium sized projects, such as minor system
enhancements, developing new reports, installing new releases and
managing bug-fix backlogs
Job Requirements
Education
High School Diploma
Bachelors degree, preferably in Computer Science, Economics,
Finance or Accounting
Experience
Three years of experience in a business administration or information
technology capacity, preferably with a systems implementation and/or
systems analysis background
Experience with businesses involved in risk management and trade
processing, preferably in energy commodities
Technical background in programming and/or data modeling helpful
Specific experience in accounting helpful
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Licenses
Ability to analyze business needs and determine information technology
solutions
Ability to construct and execute comprehensive system test plans
Demonstrated ability to evaluate, understand and define business
processes and process flow
Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on information accuracy
Demonstrated ability to utilize creativity and innovation
Proven task prioritization and time management skills
Effective written communication skills
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact with
all levels of end-users
Proficiency with MS Office, database software and project management
software, such as MS Project and/or Visio
Proficiency with OLAP/ad hoc reporting tools, such as Showcase Strategy
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
